Downloads -
Uploads - Samba shared folder
- Any files placed in this
directory will become owned by user spot. This is the same
user that runs the web browser.
- This is the the
directory where your downloads should go when using the web
browser.
- You should place
uploads in this directory. Since the web browser runs as user
spot, the files that you upload may need to be owned by spot.
- This directory
is publicly shared if you start the Samba file sharing server.
Samba lets you share files with other computers including
Windows and Macintosh. To start sharing files from this
computer, go to Control Panel, click on the system tab, and
then Manage Servers and Services. Click on Samba and then
click Start to run the service. Click enable if want the Samba
server to run at each boot. To look for other computers on
your network sharing files, click on the sharing folder on the
desktop.
- If
you store thousands of files in this folder, autochown (The
daemon that changes all the files to owner spot) may start
using measurable cpu resources. So don't do that. You can also
turn off autochown by going to the Control Panel, System tab,
and then Mange Servers and Services.
