Carina 2.5 Quick Docs.››The Docs contained in these arcs are from the original Carina version 2.0, there have been a few changes since then. There is now a SYSFLE folder in which your Password and Index files reside, along with any other system files needed such as modem handlers and Zhand.com and TDline.com››Basically, start out by creating the following sub-dirs:››D?:MODULE›D?:SYSTXT›D?:SYSTEM›D?:SYSTEM>BANNERS›D?:DOCS›D1:SYSFLE›D1:SYSMOD››Note the two which must reside on D1: in the beginning, these may be changed later, but need to be on D1: the first time around, so the system knows where to find certain files.››UnArc the files of corresponding names into there sub-dir.››Also put DOS on D1: and set it up to boot from a cold start.››Now we will create a batch file to boot the BBS when D1: is booted. This file shall be named D1:STARTUP.BAT, and should be made with TextPro or the like. I am going to assume you are familiar with how to make a batch file, if not refer to your Dos manual.››Sample Batch file:››KEY OFF›BASIC ON›SYSFLE>TDLINE›TD OFF›SYSFLE>ZHAND›TIME›DATE›SYSFLE>RS232›SYSFLE>MOE›CAR›RUN"D?:MODULE>BOOTBBS››Time and Date lines may be deleted if using an R-Time:8 cartridge. RS232 may be deleted if using an MIO or Black Box. If you need an RS232 handler for your modem, put it in the SYSFLE folder and rename it to RS232.COM Do to the veritable plethora of modems and handlers, we no longer attempt to supply you with one for your modem, but they may be found on many BBS's and modem program disks. Most likely the one you are using with your favorite terminal program, is the one you need.››Basically that is all there is to it, you will be presented with questions which will be fairly easy to answer after you get this far, and the rest should be explained fairly wee between the docs, and the Sig-Op help files, and the on-line help provided with the ! which resides in Systxt>››Enjoy. If you need my help, feel free to call me voice at (503)-286-6276 between 12pm and 9pm West Coast time. Collect calls will not be accepted.››  ÎĎÔšˇˇ ››I have included in this version, an ARC called MAIN which contains DOS etc. Simply put it all on D1: in the main directory, and tell the system to BOOT D1:XD32Z.DOS. Once you have done that, boot D1:››After the initial setup, logon as user #1, and password SYSOP. After you are logged on, you can go to the SETTINGS menu and change your info. I have also created a password file for myself as #2, with full access to your BBS so I can help you solve any problems which should arise.››The Carina Support BBS number is (503)-761-9074, and is free to everyone, with full support for registered Sysops.››
